Applying...To the Undergraduate Program
All undergraduate and transfer applications are handled by the Undergraduate Admissions Office, 1220 Student Activities Building, phone: (734) 764-7433, email: ugadmiss@umich.edu. Contact Undergraduate Admissions for an application form, or download one from their web site.
Application deadline for fall admission is generally March 1 (March 15 for transfer applicants), but please see the official U-M How to Apply page for
authoritative information.
Admissions Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- GRE general test (subject test strongly recommended)
- TOEFL exam (for non-native English speakers only)
- > 18 hours of intermediate and advanced undergraduate physics
- Three letters of recommendation
- Statement of Purpose
- English-language proficiency
- Application fee
- Domestic applicants-$60
- International applicants-$75

If you are interested in obtaining Physics Department information, please visit http://inquiry.embark.com/UMich/Rackham/ and submit your contact information. A packet will be mailed to you within three weeks. In order to apply to the graduate program in Physics you must either apply on-line or download PDF application forms through the Rackham School of Graduate Studies web site. Application forms will not be mailed with information packets.
Note: The Physics Department does not grant application fee waiver requests. All applications must be accompanied by the appropriate application fee.
