Instrument Shop
Facility Description: Manufacturing/modifying prototype and low-production
runs of scientific measuring instruments from metal and plastic. Machines include metal
lathes, drill presses, saws, grinders, shears, mills, bead blaster, and two computer
operated milling machines.
Hours of Operation: Open Monday through Friday for consulting and job submissions from 7:30 AM - Noon and 12:30 - 4:00 PM; also open for stock purchasing from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Charges: For Physics accounts: $27.50; for other university departments: $35. For outside the university, call for information. All rates subject to change. Material and stock items are available for purchase.
Student Machine Shop
Facility Description: Prepares the student for using lathes, mills, saws, sanders, drill presses, etc.
Classes: 10 two-hour classes are held several times a year. You must indicate your interest in taking the class by applying in the Instrument Shop, 170 Randall. See Julian Broad or Ted Webster. Personnel
